NSA is the world leader in cryptology - the art and science of making and breaking codes. It is this expertise that allows us to accomplish the goals of discovering adversaries' secrets, protecting US secrets, and outmaneuvering our adversaries in cyberspace while at the same time protecting the privacy rights of the American people.

NSA's Advanced Cybersecurity Research Lab conducts extensive in-house research ranging from cryptographic algorithms to photonics, from operating systems like SELinux, to advanced intrusion detection tools.
