National Intelligence Service (NIS) - South Korea
The NIS oversees policy on cyber security in South Korea by formulating and coordinating the execution of such policy and devising necessary schemes and guidelines. The NIS monitors major national computer networks and conducts simulation training. If it detects any sign of a cyber threat against government or public institutions IT networks it issues a warning, indicating the level of risk. In the event of a cyber intrusion against a government/public organization the NIS investigates the incident, ascertains its cause and conducts analysis on the threat. The NIS receives reports and counseling requests on industrial espionage. It also operates the website of the National Industrial Security Center and provides information on industrial security to appropriate agencies and civilians.
