Finnish Security & Intelligence Service (SUPO)
The Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo) is an agency of the Ministry of the Interior that operates in Finland and abroad. Its mission is to ward off and combat the most serious threats to national security. Activities are focused on Intelligence, Counterintelligence, and Counterterrorism. Cyber Espionage has emerged as a new threat and Supo is responsible for combating the online espionage of foreign powers. Defending against state-run cyber espionage operations and preventing the exploitation of IT vulnerabilities requires continuous data security work. National Cyber Security is a joint effort with other public authorities including the National Cyber Security Centre of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and local police departments. The Defence Forces also combat military cyber threats.
