The US Department of Energy will host its CyberForce™ Competition at seven national laboratories across America on Saturday, December 1, 2018. The event will unite 70 college teams to compete against each other.
Unfilled cybersecurity careers will reach over 1.5 million by 2019. With the ever-increasing amount of technology placed on the internet, security becomes a high priority.
The US Department of Energy (DOE), capitalising on the expertise of current national laboratory staff that previously hosted two successful cyber defense competitions will hold the latest event this weekend.
The competition will challenge paticipating teams to exercise interactive, scenario-based events and engage in cybersecurity activities includes methods, practices, strategy, policy, and ethics.
Students will compete to build and defend a simulated energy infrastructure from cyber-attacks, while maintaining service for their customers.
A national winner, as well as winners for each laboratory site, will be announced.

Additional teams will be hosted at Brookhaven National Laboratory (Upton, NY), Idaho National Laboratory (Idaho Falls, ID), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, CA), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Oak Ridge, TN), Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (Richland, WA), and Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM).
