Snowden Ready to Return to the US 'if he can get a fair trial'
Former U.S. National Security Agency employee Edward Snowden is ready to return home if he is guaranteed a fair trial, says his lawyer in Russia, Anatoly Kucherena.
The lawyer has said he received a letter from the US attorney general promising that capital punishment would be off the table for Snowden should he return to the United States.
Former NSA contractor and whistleblower Edward Snowden’s lawyer added that he and his client, currently residing in Russia, are under constant surveillance.
"We are always followed by somebody. I don't know which way I should choose to go back home," said Kucherena. In June 2013, Snowden leaked thousands of documents that showed not only that the NSA spied on US citizens, but also on foreign presidents, such as those of Germany, Mexico, and Brazil.
