Scandinavian Airline App Compromised
SAS the Scandinavian airline has been hit by a cyber attack and SAS has told its customers not to use its app. According to sources, hacker took down the SAS website and leaked customer information from its app on February 14th.
Karin Nyman, head of press at SAS said that the company was working to remedy the attack on its app and website. “We aren’t able to say a lot more right now as we are right in the attack now,” she said.
There is a risk that users of the App getting incorrect information by logging onto the app and the airline has advised its customers to refrain from using it.
According to sources, customers who tried to log into the SAS app were logged onto the wrong accounts and had access to personal details of other people. Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang reported that this happened to Norwegian customers as well. Various other Swedish companies and organisations have recently been hit by presumed cyber attacks.
The Swedish SVT broadcaster reported that a group called “Anonymous Sudan” had taken credit for the attack posting on Telegram that Swedish media would be attacked as a result of Koran burnings in Sweden. Meanwhile, pro-Russian hackers from the UserSec group said on Telegram they were helping Anonymous Sudan attack Sweden’s airports.
Over the past few months, airlines around the world have increasingly suffered from cyberattacks and technical issues. Lufthansa was forced to cancel or divert flights to Germany’s busiest airport in Frankfurt recently due to an IT failure that left thousands of passengers stranded.
