Meta Launches AI Chatbot On Facebook & Instagram

Meta AI was launched in 2023 and it allows users to ask questions using text, voice or images to get more information, creative assistance or inspiration, and edit or generate new images.

And now Meta has expanded its platform and launched its AI Chatbot Meta AI to a number of countries on 9th October.

These countries including Brazil, the UK, the Philippines, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Paraguay, Mark Zuckerberg said on his WhatsApp channel, having already launched it in the US and Australia.

The company said that apart from these countries, the company plans to release Meta AI in more countries in a gradual rollout, including the Middle East.

And after this rollout, Meta AI will be available in 43 countries and more than a dozen languages.

And the rollout will include regions such as Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Yemen. Meta AI will also start supporting Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese languages by the end of this release cycle.

Recently Meta began notifying Brits that it would feed their social media data, including posts and photos, to the bot to make it smarter.

The same goes for user interactions with the the AI Regulations and product testing held up the UK launch and Meta’s AI services are not available in the EU because of the regulatory environment.

Zuckerberg, Meta’s co-founder announced that Meta AI would be able to respond to voice commands and use the voice of celebrities including Judi Dench, John Cena and Keegan-Michael Key. However, these celebrity voices will not be available in the UK.

Meta said the latest rollout, “will help people get answers to their questions, brainstorm content and bring their ideas to life in places where they can easily share the results with their local network and our broader global community”.

UK users who wish to stop Meta from using their Facebook and Instagram posts need to fill out an objection form that can be obtained in their apps’ privacy settings.

Despite the uproar, Meta claims its digital assistant is off to a flying start, with more than 500 million monthly active users.
