European Cyber Threat Summit 2017

The European Cyber Threat Summit will be held in Dublin on Oct 24th at the Helix Conference Centre. Topics covered will range from protecting your business from ransomware to how to deal with cyber related fallout from Brexit and Edward Snowden will be speaking.

Now in its seventh year, the Cyber Threat Summit has developed into Europe’s flagship event for cyber leaders. Over 1,000 delegates from all over the globe will descend at the Helix conference centre at Dublin City University on Oct 24th.

“The answer to the cyber question is leadership” states Paul C Dwyer, President of the International Cyber Threat Task Force and CEO of Cyber Risk International.  “This year we have designed the event to take account of the three business activity levels required to deal with the cyber challenge. We have three corresponding streams that will run a full agenda in parallel, they are “Strategic”. “Operational” and a “Technical” stream.”

The strategic stream will be hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan and will include contributions from economist David McWilliams and a cadre of world renowned experts that will discuss cyber related topics including Brexit, GDPR and new EU legislation.  The strategic stream with a seated audience of over 1,000 delegates will be broadcast live to over 100 countries.

The event has an overall holistic theme of “Be Prepared Not Scared” with a flavor of European centric issues. Therefore, contributors will be focusing as much on the positive opportunities as they do in pointing out the business and technical challenges.

The second stream is “Operational”. Here is where delegates can learn from the world’s best solution providers the “how to” and this stream is complimented with a separate “Technical” stream. In the “Technical” stream, those that want to see the technology up close can avail of these intimate sessions covering the technical features and benefits of solutions.

Along with a full schedule of speakers in each stream, fifty exhibitors will be on hand to help delegates understand how to benefit from their offerings. On the day there will also be a “Hackathon”, some of the world’s best hackers from Hungary will demonstrate their skills and show the audience live hacking.

A number of strategic debates will also be held during the day and will cover topics from “Is Ireland Ready for the New EU Legislation?”  to “Girls in Technology”.  The event will be peppered with many micro spin off acts on the day including an awards ceremony that will recognise those special in the world of cyber including a new “Cyber Start-ups” award this year.

The original concept of the ICTTF, the entity behind this event is to create a network of cyber “good guys”. They recognised that cyber “bad guys” worked together, collaborated and shared information in order to assist each other with their negative agenda.

With a mantra of “It Takes a Network to Defeat a Network” the ICTTF boasts an online community of over 4,000 members form over 100 countries. “Our annual cyber threat summit is a chance for the virtual to become real. The relationships and connections forged online can become handshakes, smiles and a human network that can assist each other deal with the global scourge of cyber threat actors” Dwyer added.

On the day, the ICTTF intend to launch an “Anglo Irish Cyber Task Force” in order to deal with the cyber related challenges businesses in the UK and Ireland face with factors such as Brexit, EU legislation, the proliferation of organised cyber-criminal gangs and the cyber skills shortage. The task force will be supported by a series of events that will take place in 2018 across the UK and Ireland.

The highlight for many on the day will be the highly anticipated live interview between Paul C Dwyer and Edward Snowden.  Snowden a fugitive, exiled from his country will have a no holds barred conversation with Dwyer on the geopolitical cyber threat landscape.  These two world class experts will quickly get into the topics such as cyber warfare and the cyber threat to democracy.

The European Cyber Threat Summit on Oct 24th 2017 will be a special and significant event. Bringing business and technology people together from around the world to deal with the cyber threats associated with our global interdependent information economy.

The objective of the event is also to identify opportunities with emerging technologies such as AI, Machine learning, blockchain and how we can leverage all that is to offer to assist businesses, the economy and society.
