Civil Liberties Group Crashes Thailand Government Website
A cyber-attack by a Thai group opposed to the “Single Gateway” brought down a major government website.
The group proclaimed an important victory for free speech and internet freedom as the www.senate.go.th site crashed last week.
The group aided by members of the public achieved the crash by all pressing the F5 refresh button at the same time.
“People Against the Single Gateway” issued a long statement thanking those who took part and encouraging others to help in future attacks.
They said that it was a statement of intent about the feelings of the online community ahead of the August 7 charter referendum.
In the post-attack they said this was “July’s Attack” claiming that it showed support for people who are opposed to online censorship.
