British Engineering Company Attacked
The UK engineering firm Smiths Group, whose operations span 50 countries across a range of sectors, has said that it has been hit by a cyber security incident that involved hacking of its systems.
The FTSE 100 firm said it was “currently managing” the hack, which has affected its internal systems worldwide.
The London-listed engineering company, which operates across multiple sectors including energy, security, aerospace, and defence, has implemented measures to contain the breach. The company shares went down as much as 2.3% folwin the stalement.
The company, best known for making baggage-screening kits and explosive detectors, said it had isolated the affected systems when it became aware of the incident. Smiths Group said it was working with experts to recover its systems and to determine any wider impact. It added it would comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.
The company did not provide further details and said it would give further updates as and when appropriate.
