BRICS Summit: Russia's Foreign Ministry Attacked
There has been a large-scale attack on a Russian government. The Russian Foreign Ministry has been hit by a severe attack took place at the same time as the major BRICS Summit in Russia, spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
She reported that ther had been a major outage caused by a Distributed Denial-of-Service incident.
The BRICS summit was intended to demonstrate Russian international prestige, despite Western sanctions and this took place in Russia's Kazan on Oct. 22-24.
"We regularly face attacks on our website, but today's cybe rattack is of an unprecedented scale," Zakharova said at a news briefing, noting that Wednesday 23rd October attack delayed a planned briefing for four hours due to technical issues. The briefing was postponed to ease the problems on the website while efforts were being made to restore functionality of the Ministry's Internet resources.
At the summit the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said they had ambitions for a more harmonious relationship between the world's two most populous countries after years of animosity.
