Best UK Cyber Jobs Without A Degree
The UK’s best jobs would often be targeted at university graduates, however, ambitious job seekers can now earn anything up to £100,000 per year without a degree.
With businesses increasingly concerned about the safety and security of their information, demand for people working in the industry is on the rise. In fact, cyber security jobs advertised on one of the biggest job boards are up 99% year-on-year, meaning there’s never been a better time get started.
This can come from such jobs as analysing cyber crime. There are now many positions available that do not require a degree. Three in four UK businesses believe more young people will choose earn-as-you-learn routes in the next five years as the Government has been encouraging businesses to invest more in apprenticeships.
So, here’s some top jobs you can do without spending years at university, although whatever job you go for it is best to have some computing/IT understanding of how best to get and do the job as it gives you an advantage over other applicants.
Computer Forensic Analyst (Cyber Security)
Investigate and thwart cyber baddies.
They might work for the police or security services, or for computer security specialists and in house teams. Follow and analyse electronic data, ultimately to help uncover cyber-crime such as commercial espionage, fraud, terrorism and theft. Cyber security higher apprenticeships (level 4) are offered by major infrastructure and energy companies and the security services. Pay £25,000 to £100,000
Legal
Give advice to clients on the law. A solicitor can specialise in a host of areas, including family, commercial and criminal law amongst others. It is now possible to become a solicitor by training on the job since new solicitor apprenticeships (level 7) were approved in 2015. It is not an easy route, and you’ll need to pass a number of tough exams. You’ll need decent A level results and it can take more than five years to complete and you best need to be able to do some legal cyber-analysis. Pay £20,000 to £60,000
Professional Services
Auditing, consulting, financial advisory work, internal client services, to risk advisory and tax consulting, amongst other things and a skill in cyber analysis would also be very useful. Work with clients from a variety of industries and develop valuable business advisory skills, even management consultancy is an option. Companies such as Deloitte and PwC offer professional services higher apprenticeships which help A level students gain a range professional qualifications. Pay £18,000 to £80,000 plus depending on specialism
A severe shortage of qualified professionals meaning those with the right qualifications are in high demand in both the public and private sector in the wake of high level breaches and perceived terrorism threats.
